The new $1.7 million downtown Lexington Farmers Market pavilion should open soon.

Construction should be finished by the end of the year, town spokesperson Laurin Barnes said.

This will provide a covered space for the market that now is in the Icehouse Amphitheater’s parking lot.

Fans and heaters are to be added inside.

“This is going to help the growth on Main Street,” said downtown venue promoter Walker Brewer.

The pavilion will be able to host other events such as the annual Kid’s Day in Lexington.

New restaurants have opened in the historic block.

Brewer said the town is seeking a 3rd hotel on Main Street.
