A new 14-foot-wide, half-mile-long walking and biking trail is set to be constructed in the City of Cayce.
The trail will run along a closed railbed corridor from Foreman Street, near Steel Hands Brewing, to Fink Street.
During its recent meeting, the Cayce City Council approved funding for the project through the Transportation Alternatives Program, which includes an 80/20 cost share.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation will manage and oversee the project on the city’s behalf.
“Our city is excited to move forward in partnership with the SCDOT to enhance pedestrian and bicycle connectivity in Cayce,” the city said in a statement posted on Facebook.
There is no available timeline for the project yet.
