Mickey Pringle was sworn in as the West Columbia District 5 representative on city council Monday night.
Judge Kenneth Ebener administered the oath of office to Pringle. Kameron Pringle, Mickey Pringle’s grandson, held the Bible.
Pringle was not seated earlier because of a challenge to his election.
The Nov. 7 vote was overturned when the Lexington County Elections Commission ruled that ineligible voters cast ballots.
A re-vote was held Feb. 14.
Also in the race were incumbent Boyd Jones and Marland Hardy Mitchell.
Pringle received 66 votes, Mitchell received 54 and Jones received 14.
Mitchell appeared to be the winner, 76-to-71, over Pringle after the Nov. 7 election. But Pringle claimed several people voted who were not eligible.
The election commission agreed to a repeat election.
Pringle replaces Boyd Jones.
