Man charged with attempted murder

A Gaston man is charged with three counts of attempted murder after throwing large pieces of rock-like material at cars.

Tyler Chase Loyd, 20, threw objects at three transfer trucks near exit 119 on I-26 during the early morning hours of May 12, detectives said.

One of the objects crashed through a windshield and struck a man in the shoulder.

Deputies arrested Loyd Thursday without incident. He’s being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.

Another sleep-watcher arrested

Deputies arrested Richard Travis Abbott, 28, of Irmo in connection to a case involving burglary and voyeurism.

Arrest warrants state Abbott entered a woman’s Rodborough Road residence through an unlocked door with the intent to watch the woman sleep in her bed.

The woman told deputies she woke up while Abbott was in her room, staring at her. She was not hurt and eventually convinced him to leave the house.

Abbott did not have permission to be inside the home nor did he have legal access to the residence, according to investigators.

Lexington Man Pleads to Federal Firearm Charge

Brandon Shane Kolesar, 39, of Lexington pled guilty in federal court to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Kolesar is prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms and ammunition based upon his prior state convictions for burglary 2nd degree and ill treatment of animals, pointing and presenting a firearm, and assault and battery 2nd degree.

Kolesar was on state probation, stemming from a September 2017 state conviction for unlawful carrying of a firearm. Kolesar faces a maximum of 10 years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, and 3 years of supervised release.

Sex-offender charged for gun possession

Jason Rivers, 30, of Lexington pled guilty to Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Office Deputies attempted to execute an arrest warrant on Rivers for Failure to Update his Residence as a Registered Sex Offender in January 2018. They discovered a loaded Ruger .380 caliber pistol which Rivers admitted was his.

Rivers is prohibited under federal law from possessing a firearm due to prior felony convictions for assault and battery of a high and aggravated Nature and committing a lewd act upon a child under 16.

Rivers faces a maximum possible penalty of 10 years, a fine of $250,000, and up to 3 years of supervised release.
