Lexington deputies and suspect injured in shootout

2 Lexington County deputies and 1 suspect were injured in a shooting at the Woodland Village Apartments around 5 pm Sunday. The apartments are off Bush River Road near the I-20/I-26 interchange.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said the suspect was involved in an altercation with a woman and used a child as a shield when deputies confronted him.

Koon also said the man was out on bond in a murder case from 2017 in Richland County.

The officers were responding to a domestic call at a Cottonwood Lane unit.

All 3 individuals were transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds. Koon said both deputies are expected to make a full recovery. The condition of the suspect is not known.

SLED is investigating the shooting.

Lexington police search for armed robber

Desmond Quiana Hampton, 18, of Lexington, is wanted for armed robbery.

Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green says he is wanted for involvement in a recent armed robbery.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 4, Desmond Hampton, along with an accomplice who has already been arrested, robbed a victim at gunpoint at an apartment complex off of Park Road, according to police.

An accomplice robbed the victim of over $300 and then left the scene.

Desmond Quiana Hampton is wanted for armed robbery, possession of weapon during a violent crime, and criminal conspiracy.

Hampton is a slender black male with an approximate height of 6 feet, 1 inch and weighs 160 pounds. He has a heart tattoo under his right eye, the words “D6IX” tattooed by his left eye, and a kiss lips tattoo on the left side of his neck.

Hampton is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Taylor at 803-358-1569.

Missing West Columbia woman found safe

Margaret Glover has been located and is safe.

The West Columbia Police Department released few details on her case.

Glover had been missing from West Columbia since Aug 1.
