The 2020 season will go down as an historic one for the Northside Christian Academy volleyball team.
The Lady Crusaders claimed a share of the Region 2A title and made a run for their 1st ever SCISA championship.
This included winning its 1st ever SCISA Class A Lower State title in Myrtle Beach after defeating Shannon Forest twice and Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach in 2 sets.
The victories sent the Lady Crusaders into a “David vs. Goliath” battle on Oct. 28 for the state title against 4-time defending champion Spartanburg Christian.
Playing in enemy territory at the Upward Star Center in Spartanburg, Northside Christian Academy fell in 3 sets. The scores were 25-18, 27-25, 25-17.
Despite the loss, head coach Brian Elrod could not be happier for his team’s progress.
“Our players really bought into everything we needed to do to make this accomplishment a reality,” Elrod said.
He also praised the leadership of seniors Caroline Blake, Grace Dennis and Courtney Wilson.
