Our efforts in the place mortals call South Carolina to induce humans into sin and create misery are very successful.

We long ago captured the souls of key politicians in that state’s General Assembly.

Driven by greed for more power to dispense patronage, the politicians dreamed of building a huge and expensive nuclear power plant to become regional sellers of energy to states with fewer corrupt politicians.

Once the politicians were persuaded by SCANA utility executives to let them collect profits and construction costs from their vulnerable ratepayers, everyone became enthusiastic promoters of the project called the V.C. Summer Nuclear Plant.

They used this opportunity to divert huge sums of money into their own pockets.

Since our captive politicians control the state-owned Santee Cooper and the Public Service Commission the fix was in.

Your influence as chief demon for utility regulation in the upper world was the strongest factor in this bonfire of looting at the expense of electricity-using innocents.

Dear Boss:

It’s a good thing the system you set up is dominated by such complete scoundrels.

We have already encouraged the Public Service Commission to bail out stock and bond holders at the expense of ratepayers in the Dominion and SCANA merger.

The real answer for the SCANA problem was bankruptcy. However, that would not have inflicted as much harm to the economy. We must now impose huge future costs on the customers of Santee Cooper to bail out their politically-connected bond holders and other capitalist cronies.

Since there are no stockholders for Santee Cooper, the next most responsible party is naturally the bondholders. Outside of your nefarious utility regulation creation such a situation would require a default on debt.

We can’t let that happen. We must develop options that create as much pain as possible for our favorite victims, the poor.

In seeking a solution, the politicians, with our urging, will chose the option that gives them the most power and money at the expense to the electricity customers they hold in such contempt.

It’s easy for us to inflict great damage on the South Carolina economy considering what we have to work with.
