Oktoberfest at Pine Press was great

AROUND LEXINGTON COUNTY

Fall is in full blast as festivals abound and decorations dot the neighborhoods.

Pine Press Printing held its annual Oktoberfest Friday evening. Welcomed by owner Lori Moroz, guests strolled strolled the outdoor premises and took part in all the activities.

Silent auction items were most appealing. By bidding, you were supporting the Midlands Special Needs Foundation.

Children squealed with delight in the bounce house, and even while having their-pictures taken in the photo booth. The German-inspired food was enjoyed by all.

Thanks to Lori and her staff, Evelyn Bickley, Tonya Conway, Amanda Kelly, Nathan Harmon, Don Eleazer and Cretia Beasley.

Among those attending were Hugh Rogers, Coroner Margaret Fisher, MacLeod, Jerry, and Mark Bellune, Bunny and Don Hagenlocher, Katie Ritchie and John Dixon, Dot and Jim Manning, Kay Gordon, Rose Cisneros, Julie and Bruce Donatelli, Jay and Nancy Schabacker, Dan Henninger, Alysia and Tim Kehoe, Sheri and Ralph Crafton, Robin Bowers, Nancy Galloway, Carol and Hugh Ryall, and Bev and Marion Gunter.

It’s time to take your family to Boo at the Zoo! The fun began October 18 and will continue until October 30, 6-9 pm, at Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens, 500 Wildlife Parkway. A family-friendly event, this Halloween Spooktacular offers trick or treating for children under 12, Frankenstein’s Foam Zone, rides on the Spooky Stripes & Spots Railroad, a spin on the Haunted Carousel, and much more. Don your costume and head out to the zoo.

You can also “catch the spirit” by riding through the Lexington neighborhoods. Samantha and Trey Millender have decorated their front yard to the fullest. Their mailbox post is wrapped with yellow cautionary tape, which warns you of the spooky, creepy creatures ahead. A tremendous black spider wrapped in his web looms from an upstairs window. Ghosts and creatures on the lawn seem to have sprouted from the ground. RIP grave markers wrapped with webs remind you of the dangers ahead. Perched on a tree limb is a green, glow-in-the dark skeleton. On the porch are two skeletons sitting in rocking chairs flanked by two dog skeletons. If you dare enter the door outlined with orange lights, there is much more Halloween fun inside.

The Millenders, at 430 Drooping Leaf Rd. in the Persimmon subdivision, deserve a big Halloween prize.

The Shepherd’s Center Adventures in Learning continues classes and one-hour lunch programs at Lexington United Methodist Church. Today, Oct. 24, Daybreak Adult Care Services will sponsor lunch while you hear about “Recycling in Lexington County.” Next week, Oct. 31, there will be a Halloween party.

Belated Happy 50th Anniversary to Jake and Betty Knotts on Oct. 15, and also to Mac and Linda Toole. Congratulations on reaching this milestone.

Happy birthday to Joel Carter, Shauna Porter, Mallory Yandle, Terri Brock, Adam Busbee, Neil Jones, Carol Lide, Meredith Mathews, Sidney Truluck, Robin Cox, Becky Croft, Caylee Burgess, Jim Herpst, Luke Mondeel, Glen Rae, Russell Ruff, Taber Arnold, Amanda Caughman, Chris Taylor, Alex Brooks, Christin Mims, Danny Smith, Jan Staggs, Shirley Wessinger, Wyatt Westberry, Matthew Quinn, Father Tom DiMarco, Kyle Monts, Sean Gearon, Elaine Moseley, George Pontoon, Cindy Watson, Bill Brabham, Rick Hiers, Taylor Ann Madsen, Harmon Burkhalter, Wes Buffington, Barbara Leaphart, Maria Comerford, Edith T. Rohr, Sissy Frierson, Jim Hiatt, and Christopher Moran.
