Gilbert woman dies in fire

A Gilbert woman died in a residential fire in Chickasaw Trail Nov. 16.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher pronounced Delories Stone Rauch, 91, dead on scene due to fire-related injuries. Rauch was the only resident of the home.

The cause and origin of the fire is being investigated by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Police need your help

The Irmo Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Pitt Stop convenience store located in the 7400 Block of Broad River Road in Irmo.

Around 8 pm Monday night, the suspect entered the store wearing a torn white t-shirt or rag as a mask/face covering. The suspect presented a handgun to employees in the store while demanding cash.

The suspect fled the scene. He is described by witnesses as a black male in his mid-30s, approximately 6 feet tall and 200 lbs.

Man charged with kidnapping, burglary

A Lexington man has been arrested in connection to a break-in Saturday at a home near Pelion.

John Wayne McFatter, 30, is charged with 2 counts of kidnapping, armed robbery, assault and battery, burglary and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants.

Detectives determined McFatter broke into a home in the 6000 block of Edmund Highway early Saturday morning, Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.

McFatter showed a knife and assaulted one of the people in the house. He got away after robbing one of the victims of her keys.

McFatter also restricted the movement of the 2 people, which led to the kidnapping charges.

McFatter is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.

Lexington man arrested for child sex crimes

Ronnie Dawsey Jr, 37, of Lexington, has been arrested on 16 charges connected to the sexual exploitation of minors.

Investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) which led them to Dawsey. Investigators state Dawsey engaged in criminal sexual conduct with a minor and produced distributed, and possessed multiple files of child sexua abuse material.

Dawsey was arrested Nov. 10. He is charged with 2 counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, 3rd degree; 5 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, 1st degree, a felony offense punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment on each count; 4 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, 2nd degree, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count; and 5 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, 3rd degree, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.

2 county residents arrested in Tennessee

Two Lexington County residents wanted in connection with multiple property and weapons crimes have been arrested in middle Tennessee.

Wilson County, Tennessee, deputies captured Joshua Nathaniel Nelson, 28, and Kayla Denelle Humphrey, 36, last Thursday morning after an extensive search that began Wednesday.

Nelson was charged with the theft of catalytic converters from a Lexington rental car business. Nelson, a felon, also faces charges related to the possession of a firearm and body armor, according to arrest warrants.

Humphrey was charged with obstructing justice for her alleged role in assisting Nelson in fleeing the Midlands. The couple traveled to Tennessee and had been staying there together.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said Nelson and Humphrey will be back in Lexington County by the end of the month to face charges.

Drone,dogs help nab burglary suspect

Lexington officers have arrested 3 juveniles involved in a series of thefts from motor vehicles.

Last Friday, officers began investigating a suspicious vehicle parked in the Gibson Terrace neighborhood.

Several residents in a nearby neighborhood Gibson Forest West reported items were stolen from their vehicles.

An officer from the department’s Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Team flew a drone and located 3 individuals hiding in the woods near Gibson Terrace.

The subjects fled into the woods where 2 subjects were tracked by a K-9 team and quickly apprehended by officers.

The 3rd subject was located and arrested the next morning.

Officers recovered 4 stolen handguns and a stolen vehicle that the juveniles had used to come to the Town of Lexington.

All 3 suspects are 17 and are unnamed due to being juveniles. Each subject was released to the custody of a parent and these cases will be sent to Family Court within the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office for prosecution.

Red Bank shooting death

Lexington County deputies have arrested a suspect in a Nov. 9 shooting death on South Hampton Avenue in Red Bank.

James Joseph Patterson III, 23, is charged with murder and possessing a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants

William Clark, 38, died of an apparent gunshot wound he sustained Monday night, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. Patterson allegedly shot Clark after an argument involving money.

Deputies arrested Patterson Friday evening. He’s being held in the Lexington County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.
