Pelion Drops Lead Late in 28-21 Loss to Fox Creek

Posted

In a game of scoring runs, a series of late turnovers left Pelion on the losing end of a Region 3-2A home contest.
The Panthers fell 28-21 to Fox Creek in the Thursday night game for their fourth consecutive loss.
Pelion (3-4, 0-2) had trailed 14-0 in the first half before scoring 21 unanswered points. Quarterback Luke New accounted for two rushing touchdowns and Michael Cottrell had another.
A 51-yard touchdown run by Julian Collier, his second of the game, tied it at 21-21 with 7:35 left in the fourth quarter.
With 2:21 left, New was sacked and fumbled the football. John Truesdell picked up the football and scampered 40 yards for the go-ahead score.
A 39-yard completion by New put the Panthers in Predators' territory. It was a deja vu as the drive ended with another sack and fumble which was recovered by Jakim Ramage with 1:39 left.
Pelion forced a punt with 1:16 left, but it was muffed by returner Zyan Davis and recovered by the Predators at the 19-yard line.
With the Panthers out of timeouts, Fox Creek (2-5, 1-1) ran out the clock. Up next for the Panthers is a road matchup at Strom Thurmond.
