Pelion Mayor and two council seats will be open for election. Filing is Aug. 23 to Sept. 3. Election will be Nov. 2. Interested residents may file at Lexington County Voter Registration and Elections Office, 605 West Main Street, Suite C, Lexington. The filing fee for Mayor is $20 and for Council $10.

Candidates are required to file a Statement of Economic Interest and Campaign Disclosure form online with the State Ethics Commission. Residents are urged to get involved. Current officers are Mayor Frank Shumpert and council members Daniel Shumpert, Mike Masico, Larry Sossoman, and Starr Corley. The eats for reelection are Starr Corley and Larry Sossoman. Mayor Shumpert announced the millage rate will remain the same.

HOLD THE DATE Sept. 25 for the Pelion peanut Corn Hole tournament. Registration will begin at 9 am and the tournament at 10:30 along the walking trail in Pelion.

PELION GIRLS golf plays Airport at Charwood Aug. 23 at 4:15 pm. JV/Varsity volleyball plays Saluda here at 5 pm Au.t 23.

Pelion girls golf will play Aiken at the Aiken Golf Club Aug. 25 at 4:15 pm. JV/Varsity volleyball plays Benn Lippen at 5 pm at Pelion. JV Football plays Northside at Pelion on August 26 at 6:30 pm.

PELION HIGH plans an open house at 4 pm Aug. 24. Senior Night Parent meeting will be held during open house at 5:30 pm.
