PELION NEWS: Make plans to attend annual Pelion Peanut Party

The 45th annual Pelion Peanut Party will be held Nov. 6-7. Applications are now available for craft and business vendors. Email peanutpartycrafters@gmail.com for your application. All information you need is on the application.

There will be a dessert contest featuring cakes, cupcakes, pies, pastries, cookies, bars and no-bake treats. The drop-off time is 4-6 p.m. on Nov. 6, and judging begins at 7 p.m. The event takes place at the Pelion Community Center. Entry fee is $5. Prizes will be awarded for best overall dessert, most creative and best presentation. To enter, bring your dessert with a list of ingredients and your name and contact information. A reminder that there will be a public hearing on the 10-year comprehensive plan for Pelion at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.Location will be the Pelion Performing Arts Center at 981 Mulberry St. This plan shapes population, natural resources, cultural resources, economic development, housing, transportation, community facilities, resiliency, priority investment and land use. This is the plan that will guide Pelion’s future for the next 10 years. Once adopted, it can only be changed by addendums and votes. Don’t miss your chance to have a say in how the town grows.

Local senior citizens will attend an elder fraud prevention clinic at the Gilbert Senior Center on Monday, Sept. 14. Lunch will be provided. Members will have a picnic at Gibson Park on Tuesday, Sept. 15. A nutrition education event will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, with the topic “Healthy Eating Habits.” Members will play board games on Friday, Sept. 18.

Sept. 15 events at the library include toddlertime for 12-36 months at 11 a.m., and grades 9-12 will meet at 4 p.m. to create Happy Little Accidents. Adult Coloring meets on Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m.

Sept. 17 events include preschool story time for 3-5 year-olds at 11 a.m. and family story time at 5 p.m. There will be a book and yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 19. Charge is $10 per vendor spot, cash only. Senior chair yoga for ages 50 and up meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11 a.m. Mahjongg meets each Wednesday at 5 p.m.
