A reminder that the town of Pelion will host its annual Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 31 from 5-9 p.m. The event will be held on the walking trail. If you would like to reserve a vehicle on the walking path space, email townhall@pelion.sc.gov to obtain an application. Food vendors are also required to complete an application.

Pelion Police Chief Chris Garner has emphasized safety for the trunk-or-treat. He encourages parents to bring flashlights. Officers will be at the intersection of Lydia Drive and U.S. 178 to assist folks across the highway; there will also be a message sign up at that area urging motorists to be cautious. Garner also emphasized that at 9 p.m., everything is done and closed down and folks should be at their vehicles ready to move. Again, his message is for everyone to be safe and obey the officers who will be stationed at various points during the event.

There weren’t a lot of people who attended the recent meeting of the Pelion Planning Committee. The plan is a comprehensive plan that covers growth, population, infrastructure and first responders. There wasn’t much discussion, and the committee voted to approve the 10-year comprehensive plan. The plan now goes to the mayor and town council for approval.
