The American Legion Post 193 in Chapin interred three previously unclaimed veterans from Lexington County at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Aug. 19.
According to a press release, the veterans were:
“U.S. Army Veteran SP/4 Edward P. Linetty, SP/4 Linetty, served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 30, 1971-Aug. 30, 1973, he was born Aug. 28, 1954 and passed away April 24. 2021.”
“U.S. Navy Veteran CTSN Dennis L. Hubble, CTSN Hubble served in the U.S. Navy from Aug. 27, 1964-Sept. 9, 1968. He was born Feb. 12, 1947 and passed away April 29, 2022”
“U.S. Army Veteran PV1 Nelson O. Human, PV1 Human, served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 20, 2009-May 17, 2013, he was born Aug. 22, 1988 and passed away April 20. 2022.”
Before leaving Post 193 for the cemetery, the legionnaires held a ceremony, praying over the deceased veterans before transporting them via a hearse from Mosley Funeral Home.
An escort of about seven police cars accompanied the procession to the cemetery, where several members of the public were in attendance.
