Pinewood Derby winners announced

Gilbert Pack 60 Scouts held its annual Pinewood Derby race recently. For several months the Scouts worked hard to design their race cars to enter in the derby. We want to congratulate these Gilbert Pack 60 winners who won in various categories. Girl Den winners: Kammi Jones, Lily Sightler, and Emily Chester. Lion Den winners: Jackson Phelps, Ben Edenfield, and Ethan Bosley. Tiger Den winners: Holden Hook,Tyler Mcleod, and Hunter Bass. Wolf Den winners: Aiden Shealy, Jonah Burtle, and Patrick Bosley. Bear Den winners: Martin Aguirre, Joel Quina, and Mason Mcleod. Webelo Den winners: Rhys Phelps, Jackson Kohl, and Matthew Keisler. Overall Pack 60 winners: Jackson Phelps, Martin Aguirre, and Rhys Phelps. Best in Show: Lucas Andrews, Most Original: Ethan Bosley, Most Creative: Carson Barnes, Best Paint Job: Lily Sightler, Judges Favorite: Martin Aguirre, Funniest Car: Park Wofford, Coolest Design: Ben Edenfield, Fastest Looking: Jackson Phelps, Best Detail: Steven Wilhelm, and Sportiest: Holden Hook.

Congratulations to John Reeder and Nancy Harmon, who were re-elected for another term on the Gilbert Town Council.

Hollow Creek Community Club members were treated to a Minnie Pearl impersonator at their April meeting. In addition to the special entertainment, members enjoyed a fish fry dinner prepared by Charlotte Swygert, Dale Swygert, Jimmy Lucas, Timmy Koon, and Pat Monroe. Members planned for their Seniors Night Out Dinner in May. Each year members give seniors in the community a special dinner and entertainment as a gift. If you are a senior and would like to attend the Seniors Night Out in May. HCCC members would love to have you. Gilbert-Summit Senior Center members are having a Spring Folly picnic this week. Center Director Donna Neel tells us the members are looking forward to the activities and luncheon. On the first and third Tuesdays of each month Mary McBride from the Gilbert-Summit Library gives an Introduction to Computers class for members. If you are a senior age 60 and above and would like to become a member, call 892-5745.

Congratulations to Gilbert Middle School student Esparanza Juarez on winning third place at the State National History Day contest.

GMS students Grayson Lineberry, Savannah Shirley, Blaine Ricard, and Amanda Allen received the Special Topics Award for Outstanding Entry in World History.

Congratulations to Gilbert High School teacher Frances M. Meetze who will serve as treasurer of the Palmetto State Teachers Association Board of Directors. Meetze teaches U.S. history, government and economics.

The Gilbert Primary School PTO would like to thank everyone who contributed to its recent Fun Run fundraiser. Over $14,000 was raised for the school.
