Regardless of the winner, a two-time Lexington X Middle School football champion was going to be crowned Nov. 3 at River Bluff High School.
Defending champion Meadow Glen looked to repeat against 2020 winner Pleasant Hill.
In the battle of future River Bluff High Gators and Lexington High Wildcats, it was Pleasant Hill which claimed the championship trophy with a 26-0 victory.
After taking a 14-0 halftime lead, the Cougars’ defense and eighth grader Tyler Waller dominated the second half, delivering two scores in the game’s final 90 seconds.
Waller threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Wesley Gor sage and closed out the game with his second interception, which he returned 90 yards for a touchdown.
Head coach Matthew Hornsby has led Pleasant Hill to two titles in the first three seasons of the 10-team league made up of Lexington County middle schools.
