Living on Old Cherokee Road, I have seen the unqualified planning of roads, building of homes and spending of Lexington County residents’ taxes reach an all-time high. Old Cherokee Road is a pathetic road with potholes needing repair. My main concern right now is the traffic. Land for another school on Old Cherokee Road is being considered. What are we going to do about all the traffic we now have? This traffic is a cut-through from Saluda, Batesburg-Leesville, Gilbert, etc. We cannot enter Old Cherokee Road from our drive at certain times of the day. Actually, we have a problem practically all day. No one has patience. Many run stop and caution lights and pass on double lines. No attention seems to be paid to speed limits of 35, 40 or 45 miles an hour. Cars in line behind me have gone around the cars and me on the left as I was turning left. Turning into or out of my driveway has become dangerous. If Lexington District 1 does traffic studies of Old Cherokee Road they should try 7- 8:30 am and 4-6 pm. Traffic is backed up and emergency travel is almost impossible. Please contact Lexington District 1 School Board members about adding another problem to Old Cherokee Road.
