Scottrell Juarez West, 37, died from multiple gunshot wounds on Aug. 21 in the Batesburg-Leesville area of Lexington County, and police are seeking answers.
Town of Batesburg-Leesville officers were dispatched at 12:30 a.m. that day to the 500 block of Ash Street not far from Batesburg Cemetery after a call about gun shots.
When officers arrived, West, who was a Monetta resident, was discovered lying near the road suffering from gun shot wounds.
Officers rendered medical help, but, according to a release from the coroner's office, West was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is under investigation by the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
