Police to hold ‘foot pursuit’ 5K race

The West Columbia Police Officers Foundation Foot Pursuit 5K Race is Saturday, May 19, at 8 a.m.

The registration fee is $30. You can register on race day. Proceeds go to the West Columbia Police Officers Foundation.

The West Columbia Police Department, along with citizen volunteers, will be conducting a summer clean-up program for senior and disabled citizens needing assistance with projects such as mowing, yard work and minor debris clean up. The program was started on May 4 and continues thru Sept. 1.

Church leaders, police and fire officials, homeowner association leaders and West citizens are encouraged to help identify and locate those in need of help. Volunteers also are encouraged to join in on clean-up projects. For information or assistance, contact Captain Mark Jones at (803) 794-0721, ext. 278.

Airport High School’s Classes of 1964 and 1965 will hold their annual class reunion June 30 at the Country Club of Lexington at 6 p.m. For more information, call or e-mail Dannette Tumblin Bickley – 269-9063,  dannette@sc.rr.com, or Amelia Bowers Price –794-7073, ameliabp@bellsouth.net.

The Town of Springdale will hold a Happy Birthday Springdale Party at 11 a.m. June 30. There will be a golf cart parade, hot dog lunch, and a desert competition.

First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded for decorated golf carts and dessert entries. The town will provide additional information on entry forms soon.
