Posted

It's No. 1 vs. No. 3 for the Region 4-5A title Oct. 28 at Wildcat Stadium.

This week's S.C. Prep Football Media Poll has Dutch Fork still atop the Class 5A rankings. Meanwhile, Lexington moves up to third behind defending state champion Gaffney entering Friday's clash.
The Silver Foxes (8-1, 3-0) enter the contest riding streaks of 44 straight victories against in-state teams in regular-season play, 40 consecutive road wins and 31 region wins in a row.

They have also won eight straight against the third-ranked Wildcats and are 9-1 all-time with head coach Tom Knotts. Since Knotts’ arrival in 2010, Dutch Fork has won or shared 13 consecutive region titles.

Meanwhile, Lexington (8-1, 3-0) and head coach Perry Woolbright are riding the school's longest winning streak since 2015. After a 42-35 loss to undefeated third-ranked West Florence in Week 0, the Wildcats have run off eight straight victories and are seeking their first region title since 2015.

This is the year's final WACH 57 Sonic Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week. The game can be seen on Spectrum Channel 1250 or streamed at wach.com or the Lexington Wildcat page on Facebook Live.

In Class 3A, Gilbert moved up to sixth entering its regular-season finale against Brookland-Cayce.

Last season saw Brookland-Cayce (6-3, 4-0) reclaim the Region 5-3A title for the second time in five years after beating out Gilbert on the head-to-head tiebreaker. Now, the Indians (7-2, 4-0) are seeking to win the region for the fourth time in its history, all under current head coach Chad Leaphart.

Gray Collegiate also moved up to fourth in Class 2A having clinched its Region 3-2A title.
