Red Bank United Methodist hosts a Rise Against Hunger event Sept. 22. It’s in the church fellowship hall. The colunteers will package up thousands of meals in only a few hours time. They need volunteers from the community who want to help feed starving people around the world from right here in Red Bank.

Rise Against Hunger is an international organization that provides meals to the hungry and promotes sustainable agriculture and other means for people to feed themselves. Register for this event at shn.secure.force.com/events/homepage?id=701f1000002r33zAAA or call the church office at 359-4031.

If you participated last year, you know how much fun it was to be pitching in for a great cause, shoulder to shoulder with your friends and neighbors.

While Timberwolves football fans surely enjoyed the exciting win over Aiken Friday night, it was great to witness the future of the football program at halftime. The Bantam level kids got the chance to play a few downs in the big stadium for Youth Football Night. Thanks to all the coaches and the parents who support youth football from an early age. Judging from some of the passes, runs, and tackles I saw, we’ve got some talent coming to WKHS in a few years. The varsity team travels to play Gray Collegiate Academy tomorrow night at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia. Remember we’ve also got volleyball, tennis, and some track & field sports playing matches currently, check the full schedule of events at whiteknollathletics.com for more information on those sports.

Happy birthday this week to Lauren Barton, Tommy Arant, Billie Chewning, Cindi Crolley, Carolyn Lorick, Marlene Tanner, Aubree McKenzie, Mary Harbour, Jonah Bedebaugh, Abby Wallace, William Bond, Barbara KillianTom Jansen, Jase Joyner, and Tom Boozer.

Happy Anniversary this week to Darry and Carol Waits, Ron and Lorre Liljegren, and Richard and Gwen Luther.

Condolences to the family and friends of Creo Waddell, who passed away last week. Ms. Waddell may have been the oldest resident of Red Bank at 103 years old.
