Are you sick of marketing emails? I’m not talking about scams and phishing.
Spam emails are legitimate. You get them because you signed up on an email list.
You may have given your email for a coupon. Remove yourself from lists by clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ link.
How to avoid them: Use Firefox Relay
Don’t give your real email. Firefox Relay is a service that creates random “alias” email addresses. The alias forwards emails from companies to your real email account. The forward lets you claim a coupon and you can delete the alias when you’re done.
To set up Relay, visit: https://relay.firefox.com and create an account using your real email address.
Click the blue button that says ‘+ Generate New Alias’. You can add a label to the alias email so you know what you are using it for (coupons, newsletters, etc.). You can have up to 5 alias emails at a time.
Paste the relay address, not your real address, into the email field for a coupon.
When you don’t want to get emails from a company any more, go back to the above address. Click the down arrow on the relay you want to remove and click ‘delete.’
Don’t use Relay to create accounts to buy online unless you plan to save an alias as your ‘to keep’ alias. You don’t want to lose access to an account with a purchase history/stored payment info!
