Red Bank welcomes new grocer

Today is the day many value-conscious Red Bank grocery shoppers have been anticipating for months—the Grand Opening of the new Aldi, across from Lowe’s on Platt Springs Road. Store brand products at low prices is the key to their appeal, but remember that they charge for shopping bags, so bring your own and don’t forget the quarter for a shopping cart deposit. More options for fresh produce are always welcome, so welcome to Aldi.

It was great to see the Marine Raider Memorial March pass through Red Bank last Saturday, as the group of flag-bearing Marines traveled down Old Two Notch Road. There was a police escort to stop traffic as they walked. The March was a 900-mile trek honoring fellow Marines who died in a crash one year ago while in transit to pre-deployment training. Each Marine carried sand bags filled with soil from the crash site and the American flags that were draped over their fallen brothers by the first responders on the scene. The soil will be used to plant a tree at the Marine Corps Special Operations Command at Camp Lejeune.
