If you like steak, hamburger and game shows, you’ll want to check out the fundraiser this Sunday evening, September 30, at St. James Lutheran on South Lake Drive, 5 -7 p.m. They’ll be serving up the red meat and playing lots of games. Call 803-359-2122 for info.

Last Saturday’s “Rise Against Hunger” event at Red Bank UMC saw 120 volunteers who packed 22,000 meals which could feed six people each, all in just a few hours time. That means 132,000 people will be fed a meal by their efforts, a pretty amazing number. Thanks to those who gave their time to do a lot of good for others.

They may be known more for those cookies, but right now it’s fall product sales time for local Girl Scouts. Scouts are selling nuts, candles, and magazine subscriptions on most of the popular titles out there. This isn’t a door-to-door event and there won’t Homecoming for the White Knoll Timber-wolves. Come to the game and find out who this year’s Homecoming Queen will be.

Happy birthday this week to Matt Gunter, Todd Keisler, Ives Chapman, Elizabeth Allen, Elaine Bedenbaugh, J. D. Gable, Brandon Lambert, Margaret Koon, John Childers, Jessica Tindall, Amanda McKenzie, Helene Dove, Barbie Barrier, John Stafford, Amanda Smith, Jennifer Huffines, Leslie Smith, Madison Snelgrove, and Terry Reynolds.

Happy Anniversary this week to Russell and Pearle Etheridge, and to Jerry and Freida Snelgrove.
