River Bluff swimming teams prepare for state finals

FALL SPORTS

Since the program’s inception in 2013, the River Bluff boys’ and girls’ teams have dominated its respective region. This past Saturday at the YMCA in Irmo, the two teams swept the region meet held in Columbia. It made it 6 for 6 in region titles for the Lady Gators, while the boys claimed their fifth overall. This Saturday at the Natatorium on the campus of the University of South Carolina, River Bluff will look to dethrone Wando to claim its first-ever Class 5A championships. River Bluff placed 5th (boys) and 10th (girls) last year. The teams’ highest finishes were 3rd (boys) and 5th (girls).

Lexington wins the Wildcat Invitational

For the second time this week, the Lexington volleyball team defeated Region 5-5A rival River Bluff. After beating the Lady Gators in 5 sets to claim first place in the region, the Lady Wildcats won this past Saturday in 3 sets in the final of the Wildcat Invitational. Lexington also defeated Westwood and Daniel to reclaim the Invitational title. The Lady Wildcats (24-7, 4-0) return to action Thursday at Dutch Fork.

Sept. 27 matches Swansea 3, Pelion 1 (19-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-22)

Gilbert 3, Strom Thurmond 0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-21 Chidera Wilson had 10 kills, Courtney Price had 9 kills and Carlee Jones added 7 kills for the Lady Indians (12-1, 4-0).
