In Mission Lexington’s 11th annual Race Against Hunger, 444 runners of many ages raised $27,000.
Runner Zander Jeffcoat set a new state 10K record. They came to Lexington High School to participate in a 5K, 10K or 1-mile fun run/walk.
The Chronicle’s own social media intern and outdoor columnist Cole Stilwell ran the 5K.
The race was started in 1999 to raise money for those in Lexington County in need.
“It is the single biggest money raiser, and we are ecstatic about the amount of funds raised, thanks to the runners and especially our incredible sponsors,” Said Mission Lexington Executive Director Robin Bowers.
5K and 10K race winners were:
• 5K Male Overall winner: Steven Ellisor
• 5K Female Overall winner: Kendra Miles
• 10K Male Overall winner: Zander Jeffcoat
• 10K Female Overall winner: Angie Blight
