Gilbert Pack 60 Scouts received a special visit from Santa Claus at the December Pack meeting. The Scouts were treated to hot chocolate and a variety of cookies. Everyone enjoyed Santa’s visit.

The Hollow Creek Community Club meets the second Thursday of each month at 2701 Priceville Road in Gilbert.

Santa Claus visited

with Gilbert-Summit

Senior Center members at their annual Christmas luncheon. Prior to the luncheon, members played Bingo to win Christmas gifts. The luncheon was hosted by Cherokee Presbyterian Church members who served a delicious meal. Afterwards, seniors had their pictures made with Santa Claus and enjoyed a time of fellowship.

GSSC Director Donna Neel said the members have had a busy December. Entertainer Jeff Long sang Christmas carols, and the Gilbert Middle School Orchestra performed Christmas music this week. Other activities include Christmas games, Christmas songs and cheer with cookie decorating, a Christmas brunch on Christmas Eve, and adult Christmas coloring. Neel said the members also went to see the Christmas lights at the SC State Fair, and enjoyed a Christmas luncheon at Beulah United Methodist Church. For information on joining the GSSC, call 892-5745.

Louise Taylor, Librarian at the Gilbert-Summit Branch Library, tells us children will enjoy Porkchop Productions of “Holly and the Christmas Gift” play on Saturday, December 21 at 10:30 am. Holly the Elf finds a package marked “undeliverable” the day after Christmas in Santa’s workshop. Holly the Elf then tries to find the recipient of the gift and this leads her to an adventure of giving and celebrating differences in others. This will be the last program for the year at the library. For information on upcoming programs in 2020, call 785-5387.

Pack 60 Scouts sponsored a local family who needed help in providing Christmas gifts to their children. At their December meeting Pack 60 Scouts and their parents brought many gifts for a family of two children. Gift, grocery and gas cards were also provided for the parents.

Pack 60 Scouts participated in the national “Wreaths Across America” on December 13. Den leaders and Scouts traveled to Fort Jackson National Cemetery and placed wreaths on the graves to honor and remember our military veterans who served our country.

Hollow Creek Community Center members met a day before their monthly meeting to assemble fruit baskets for several homebound seniors in our community. The baskets were then given to members at their meeting to distribute.

Special guest at the meeting was Santa Claus, who ate dinner with the members and gave Christmas gifts to the children.

This month club members were treated to a catered meal by Shealy’s BBQ. Prior to the meal Brian LeeVan gave the devotions. HCCC members who had birthdays in December were honored.

Happy Birthday wishes goes to: Mitch Koon, Pat Tinman, Brenda Keisler, Amanda LeeVan, Sandra Woodard, Betty Sessions and Timmy Koon, Bobbi and Judy Lowry.

Harry and Sandra Woodard were recognized as having anniversaries in December.
