The 39th Annual South Carolina Poultry Festival in Batesburg-Leesville was held this past weekend. The S.C. Poultry Festival has been a proud tradition in Batesburg-Leesville. The festival brings together friends, families and visitors from across the Southeast for a celebration like no other. The festival began in 1987 as a small hometown event that has grown into a 3-day festival that now welcomes more than 100,000 guests each year to the BL community.
Highlights for the festival include over 100 craft vendors, live music on three stages, a Saturday parade, chicken-themed contests, carnival rides and a Saturday night fireworks display. Visitors took part in the 5K race, cheered on competitors in the cornhold and volleyball tournaments and admired the beautiful vehicles in the classic car show. BL Mayor David Bouknight Jr. thanked the many volunteers, sponsors, and festival committee members who have worked tirelessly throughout the year to make this event a success. Their commitment and hard work are what make the S.C. Poultry Festival one of the most beloved events in South Carolina.
