School District 5 plans Escolares Pathway Information Night

School District Five of Lexington and Richland counties will host an Escolares Pathway Information Night at Irmo Middle School from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15.

This event provides an opportunity for families in the community to learn more about the Escolares Pathway and visit with district personnel, school administrators and teachers.

Escolares in School District Five is the collection of academically gifted magnet programs in the district and provides a pathway for students beginning in second grade, concluding in 10th grade. To participate in the program, students must apply online during the district’s Magnet and Choice Application period, Nov. 19 through Jan. 20.

Students currently enrolled in an Escolares program do not need to complete an application.

The Escolares Pathway serves students beginning second grade at Harbison West Elementary through the Escolares Academy, Irmo Middle through the “I AM Escolares” program and Irmo High through the This Is Escolares program. This Is Escolares serves as a pathway for ninth and 10th grade students into the International Baccalaureate Programmes for junior and senior year at Irmo High School.

For more information, call the district’s Magnet Office at 803-476-8260 or visit www.lexrich5.org/escolares.
