AROUND CAYCE, SPRINGDALE & WEST COLUMBIA

Families were invited to an open house February 12 to learn more about Lexington Two’s newest high school facility and programs.

The event was at the Lexington Two Innovation Center, 509 Bulldog Blvd., off the 12th Street Extension in Cayce.

The state-of-the-art 110,000-square-foot center, which opened in the fall, houses a number of college and career readiness programs for high schoolers as well as dual enrollment and Advanced Placement courses. The programs include: Automotive Collision Repair; Automotive Technology; Building Construction; Culinary Arts; Computer Programming; Cosmetology; Digital Art & Design; Engineering; Electricity; Firefighting; Health Science; Multimedia and Animation; Sports Medicine; and Welding.

The Colatown Beer

Wars kickoff for Columbia Craft Beer Week was held Feb. 9 at the West Columbia River-walk. The winning taste was from Sugar Creek Brewing, Blood Orange IPA.

A crowd of brew-lovers descended upon the Riverwalk parking lot sampling the many beers. In the amphitheater, the popular musical group Prettier Than Matt performed followed by DJ Phil Blair.
