Forts Pond Elementary teacher Ms. Siceloff received a grant through Educational Foundation and Rawl Farms to continue our school garden. The 1st grade team received a grant from Target that will decrease the cost of its field trip. The following students have been invited to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum – Breanna Fallaw, Lindsey King, Kaleb Ulmer, and Evan White.

The Pelion Police Department submitted its annual report to Town Council at the last meeting. The police are to be commended for an excellent year, with a 91.46% closure rate on cases they worked. We are proud of our police officers and first responders.

Convent Baptist Church will host Jeff and Sheri Easter February 23 at 6 pm. Mark your calendars for a great night of singing and worship. Also mark March 14 for the annual BBQ and car show at Sonny’s Restaurant on Highway 178.

Pelion Library’s Tweens meet January 24, 6 pm, to learn lettering in calligraphy. This event is for grades 4-12. The library will host technology training January 29 at 10:30 am. Registration is required. Preschool story time is January 29 at 11 am for ages birth to 5 years. Yarn Art will be January 28 at 10 am for all ages. This event is for beginner and advanced crafters. North of 50 meets January 28 at 11:15 am.

Pelion Senior Center will play bingo January 24 and 28 and Balloon volleyball January 27.

Pelion High JV and V basketball play Strom Thurmond January 24 at 4 pm. JV/ MS Wrestling meets at Lexington High for the Carolina Invitational January 25 at 9 am. Varsity basketball plays at Gilbert January 28 at 6 pm. JV basketball plays Blackville-Hilda January 30 at 5:30 pm. January 24 is the Mr. Panther Pageant at 11:05 am.
