Scooter Scott Project needs volunteers

The Scooter Scott Project needs 24 volunteers to work three-hour shifts to collect food Oct. 5 and 6 at the West Columbia Walmart . The Scooter Scott Project is providing Snack packs that will go to nine schools in Lexington School District Two to help kids in need. Call Joyce Coleman, 803-397-6944, to sign up.

The Scooter Scott Project is a faith-based organization helping kids in middle and high school become future leaders of tomorrow. It also offers a free GED opportunity.

The City of West Columbia’s Sanitation Department will not collect garbage, trash, or recyclable items Sept. 2. Customers normally receiving sanitation services on this day will have household garbage only collected Sept. 3.

Springdale Mayor Michael Bishop asks if you know a homeowner in need of home repairs? The County of Lexington has a Homeowner Rehabilitation Program to assist low to moderate income residents improve the appearance and safety of their homes. The program utilizes federal grant funds.

The Town of Springdale’s Public Works Department will be choosing one residential yard each month to be featured as “Yard of the Month.” Residents will be recognized for their exemplary lawn care and for their contribution to the beauty of the town.

The “Yard of the Month” for August belongs to the Galloway Family of Hampton Crest.
