Ultimate new potato blue cheese salad

This recipe is one I remember from many, many years ago. It is incredibly good but a little more complicated than a more traditional recipe but it is worth the time.

Boil about 3 pounds of new potatoes with the skins on till tender and cut them into bite size pieces when they are cool.

Place in a large mixing bowl and add:

1/3 cup white wine 1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup sour cream 1/2 cup Dukes mayo

1/2 cup Dukes mayo (must be Dukes)

2 tbs Dijon mustard

2 tbs white wine vinegar

4 fresh green onions - green and white parts chopped in small pieces

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1 tsp celery salt

6 oz of crumbled blue cheese.

Toss gently and chill at least 2 hours.

Right before serving, garnish with more green onions and chopped, cooked bacon.

The bowl pictured here is the perfect serving bowl for this dish.

This silver bowl was made by a female in Mexico in the 1950s. It was hand hammered into shape and seems to enhance anything placed inside it.

If you look closely, you can see a band of hand cut, natural Mexican turquoise inlaid around the border. The handles are fashioned as scrolls and it rests on bun feet. It was very unusual for a female in Mexico to be a successful silversmith. She was so successful, that her pieces were marketed by the luxury retailer Neiman Marcus. Nothing was spared in the making of this bowl. Weighing in at nearly 8 pounds with the use of rare and valuable, undyed natural Mexican turquoise as the decorative border, this bowl became an icon on it own given how unlikely it is that is exists. I hope you enjoy this unusual potato sal

I hope you enjoy this unusual potato salad recipe- a departure from the usual - and that you enjoy looking at this incredible piece of silver art- forged by hand, a great departure from the 1950s modern age.
