The Chronicle’s Cindy Johnson highlights some of her favorite businesses in Batesburg-Leesville.

Rush Clothing is a cute, trendy shop on Main Street in Leesville. They have items for the young or those like me that want to look current and fashionable. I don’t know why I am constantly surprised at the wonderful merchandise in Batesburg-Leesville. The jewelry is different and fun.

Economy Furniture is having a sale. Not only do they have a good selection of furniture, they have great accessories and appliances.

Their customer service is terrific and people will drive some distance to purchase from them. The Shealy family is there to serve.

The atmosphere at Palmetto Crest Sunday is festive and full of Christmas baskets and decorations. My friends in Greenville told me to bring them some CBD gummies, but not talking with Dora would be missing stories, conversation and coffee or hot chocolate. She has gift certificates for those hard-to-please on your list. I plan to get some gummies for stocking stuffers.

Mae’s is having a sale. The clothes and shoes are not just good-looking, but comfortable, as well. Her jewelry is unique and I love it!. She must hand-pick each piece. I love to visit with Mae!

There are several places to eat in Batesburg/Leesville. The Root Cellar is always good and has specials. This is a great place for a nice meal. I have to put a plug in for Shealy’s Barbecue. I love the food and if hard pressed I would say my favorites are the butter-beans and the Brunswick Stew. My mother was from Eastern NC and the baby butter-beans are the same and it brings back good memories. It is nice to get a constant refill of iced tea. It seems that most people sitting (socially distanced) know the wait staff and the other diners. The Wiz is great for burgers, sandwiches and their salads are huge.
