Should we ban cars because they kill?

In Australia, Britain, Japan, Norway and New Zealand, governments are confiscating weapons from law-abiding citizens or buying back weapons at a cost of millions of dollars in tax increases to cover the costs. The only policies that may make sense:

• Japan has stiff requirements for owners to keep guns out of lunatics’ hands.

• Norway which emphasizes friendly community policing such as is practiced by law enforcement in Lexington County. New York and other large cities reduced crime and violence in the last century with community policing. Today’s liberal mayors and administrators have brought crime and homelessness to intolerable new peaks. The rest are from the left wing playbook if liberals control US and local government. Targeting gun owners is like targeting car and truck owners because a few nuts, drunks and careless owners kill and injure millions of their fellow citizens each year. We average 37,000 to 38,000 US traffic deaths a year. 33% of them are caused by drunk or drugged drivers. Another 1.3 million in the world die in traffic accidents. Should we go after car and trucks owners because vehicles kill and injure thousands? What we need is to prevent accidents ad assaults before they happen.
