The 2018 4th of July Peach Festival is one month away. There are some changes we want to share with you about the contests.

Each year the festival has several divisions for Peach Queens from birth to 23 years. The deadline to register your children is June

15. Late registrations will be accepted for an additional fee until June 22. There are three Peach Festival Pageant divisions: Baby Division for boys and girls birth to 4 years of age, Junior Division for girls 5 to 16 years, and Miss Lexington County Peach Queen for girls 17 to 23 years. The pageants will take place June 30 at Gilbert Primary School at various times. The forms can be picked up at Gilbert Town Hall or you can download forms and other information at:  lexingtoncountypeachfestival.com/peachpageant/.

This year the Peach Dessert Contest will be held June 30 in the main lobby of the Gilbert Primary School. The categories are Adult Class for ages 19 years and up, Student Class for ages 18 and younger. Each group will compete in the Classic Peach Cobbler and/or Other Peach Dessert. Awards are $50 for 1st place award and $25 for 2nd place with 3 honorable mentions in both categories. Entries will be accepted in the Gilbert Primary School cafeteria from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.  For rules and info, visit olexingtoncountypeachfestival.com/peach-dessert-contest.

Jean Fallaw, Arts and Crafts Chairperson, is now accepting reservations for vendors at the Peach Festival. Spaces for vendors go rather quickly. You can download a vendor form on the website or pick up one at the Gilbert Town Hall.

Gilbert Middle School students had its annual Sidewalk Chalk Art show last month. The students created many beautiful art masterpieces using colorful chalk. Sadly, the art was washed away by the recent rains.

Gilbert Pack 60 Scouts celebrated the last meeting of the school year with ice cream sundaes. During the summer months, Pack 60 Scouts will have weekly activities. This week they will have a kickball event, and June 11 through 15 many will attend Twilight Camp. Later this month Pack 60 will have a movie night. For more information, email gilbertscoutspack60@gmail.com.

Good Hope CME Church invites the community to its annual Rainbow Tea Party June 9  at 4 pm. The Rev. Faye R. Houston, pastor, said the church would like everyone in the community to support them through participation at the tea. The church is celebrating its 151st anniversary this year. It is at 1032 Saint Paul’s Church Road in Gilbert. For information, call 892-8737.

Birthday wishes this week to George Gantt, Ralph Price, Dianne Smith, Barbara Garrett, Diane Crosby, Roxanne Burkett, Kevin Conn, Audrey Binkley, Roy Soz, Brenda Tolton, Jessic Pease, Rachel Taylor, Rev. Tony Rowell, Wayne Chester, Shaun Randall, and David Burton.
