Head coach Shane Beamer and the South Carolina football team had a successful early signing period, adding 25 players to its 2025 recruit class.

Of the 25 athletes signed, 11 players are from South Carolina. Six are from Georgia, three from North Carolina, two from Virginia, one from Tennessee, one from Pennsylvania and one from Wisconsin.

The class currently ranks 21st in the country, according to 247 Sports. It features seven four-star recruits and 18 three-stars.

Rock Hill wide receiver Malik Clark leads as the 125th-ranked recruit in the country and No. 2 ranked prospect in South Carolina. Clark is a state Mr. Football finalist and has had a successful 2024 season with the Bearcats, finishing with over 900 yards.

The Gamecocks also earned a commitment from the top JuCo prospect in the country, defensive lineman Zavion Hardy. He earned first-team all-conference honors this season at East Mississippi Community College in Georgia.

Kicker Max Kelly is the second-highest-ranked player at his position in the class of 2025. In his junior season, Kelly connected on nine of 12 field goals and 33 out of 38 extra points.

Mike Tyler and Jordon Gidron are two Columbia natives staying home to play for the Gamecocks. Tyler is a tight end at Hammond High School and Gidron is a receiver at Ridge View. Both players are top-10 prospects in South Carolina.

Tyler was a key part of the 2024 SCISA 4A championship-winning Hammond team. He caught the winning pass in the championship game to give the Skyhawks their eighth straight title.

Tyler was originally committed to play at LSU but flipped his commitment to the Gamecocks on signing day.

Gamecock quarterback LaNorris Sellers' brother Jayden Sellers was also part of the 2025 class as a receiver. He helped South Florence win a 2022 state title and will be a 2024 Shrine Bowl participant.

Dutch Fork’s Josh Smith is the lone Lexington County native currently signed to the Gamecocks. Smith helped the Silver Foxes win the 2023 5A championship and is a big part of why the team is back in the championship game this year.

While it was a promising start, Beamer and crew can add even more talent to its 2025 class via the transfer portal and high school recruits. The Gamecocks are projected to lose multiple starters from its 2024 team and had 27 players walk on senior day, so finding potential replacements is a must.

Among some of the top players yet to commit include Irmo’s Donovan Murph, the No. 6 ranked prospect in the state. 247 Sports currently predicts he will sign with the Gamecocks, but he said he will make his decision after the Under Armour All-American Game on Jan. 2. Clemson is also competing for Murph’s commitment.
