South Carolina Philharmonic visits Irmo

Posted

The South Carolina Philharmonic presented the Town of Irmo its partner award during the Irmo Town Council meeting on Dec. 17 for its successful “Music in My Neighborhood” program.

Back in April 2024, the South Carolina Philharmonic brought a week of free ensemble performances to various locations throughout Irmo. Robin Hallyburton, the Philharmonic’s development and deputy director, presented the award to the town.

“Earlier this year, we launched an Outreach Program with the vision of providing free concerts to all community members—in hospitals, assisted living facilities, schools, libraries and more,” Hallyburton said in the press release. “Irmo embraced this vision wholeheartedly, hosting 13 performances attended by over 3,000 people. We are incredibly thankful for Mayor Danielson’s leadership, the active participation of every town council member, and the dedication of the entire Irmo staff.”

Mayor Danielson highlighted the positive impact of the performances, especially with children and senior citizens in the community.
