Spires to be parade Grand Marshal

The Grand Marshal for the 37th annual Peanut Party Parade will be state Rep. Kit Spires, who serves our 96th District in the State House.

Party Steering Committee invites you to participate in the Peanut Party Parad November 3 at 10 a.m. Parade check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. on Fort Street at the entrance to the football/soccer fields near the Pelion Library. Judging begins at 9:30 a.m. Trophies will be awarded at noon on the band stage.

There is no cost to participate but you must return the completed entry form and agree to the regulations. Your entry number will be available at the football/soccer field parking lot when you arrive. Equine entries are welcome and J. D. Kneece will be checking Coggins. Pelion Library will host Cook the Book with Native American dishes October 2 at noon. Join the library for its newest book club with a twist. You prepare recipes from a.m. for ages 2-5 years.

Pelion JV/V volleyball plays Strom Thurmond October 2 at 5 p.m. Cross Country meets at Gilbert October 3 at 5 p.m. Girls tennis plays at White Knoll October 4 at 4:30 p.m. JV/V volleyball is at Gilbert October 4 at 5 p.m. JV football meets at Edisto October 4 at 6 p.m. Varsity football plays Edisto October 5 at 7:30 p.m., which will be the Homecoming game.

Forts Pond Elementary School will have fall pictures October 5. ESOL Coffee Chat meets at 8 a.m. in the Parent Resource Center October 5.

Pelion Senior Center will begin Operation Shoe Box October 2. This activity will be held each Tuesday through October 23. a selected cookbook and bring to share. This event is for ages 18 and up.

Technology Training will be held October 3 at 10:30 a.m. for ages 18 and up. Registration is required. Preschool storytime is October 3 at 11
