Springdale creating new splash pad

Posted

Springdale children should have a new splash pad soon.

Mayor Michael Bishop said the materials for the splash pad are in and work has begun on it.

The splash pad is being installed in the park beside Town Hall.

The 40 ft. square pad will feature a palm tree with water shooting out and additional water jets on a timer started by touch.

The pad will be much bigger than the current one beside Town Hall on Platt Springs Rd. Bishop said the original water feature draws hundreds in the summer. The new pad will be ADA accessible.

“We are hoping everything will be up and running by end of June, and just in time to celebrate and cool off on the 4th of July,” said Bishop.

The Town of Springdale will host its Happy Birthday Springdale party June 30.

The celebration will include the town’s first ever Golf Cart Parade at 11 a.m. Registration forms can be found on Springdale’s Face-book page.

Registration forms can also be picked up at the Springdale Town Hall. The Springdale Birthday Party will include a dessert competition.

“All of us here at Town Hall are excited to see what will be brought to the table,” said Mayor Michael Bishop.

He reminded participants not to bake anything that requires refrigeration.

There will be no way to keep desserts cold.
