Friday — June 3


Bluegrass/Acoustic Jam Session
Whether you’re skilled with an acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo or upright bass or you’re simply a fan of the music, you’ll likely enjoy the Bluegrass/Acoustic Jam Session at Bill’s Music Shop & Pickin’ Parlor (710 Meeting St. in West Columbia). Rod McCoy (concert)
Head over to Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St. in Columbia) for a special evening of music courtesy of guitarist Rod McCoy. McCoy will focus on the hits of The Isley Brothers, playing classics like “For The Love of You,” “Footsteps in the Dark,” “Voyage to Atlantis,” “Who’s That Lady,” “Between The Sheets,” “Make Me Say It Again Girl,” “It’s Your Thing” and many more. Riverbanks Camp Out
Enjoy a unique night spent with the sounds of Riverbanks botanical gardens. Try out camping at Riverbanks Zoo (500 Wildlife Parkway), including marshmallow roasting and sleeping in a tent. This nighttime adventure is perfect for the novice outdoors person. The campout starts at 6 p.m. Friday evening and ends Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Tickets cost $310. “Encanto” (Film)
Join the Icehouse Amphitheater as it celebrates the start of summer (or at least school being out) with a showing of Disney’s “Encanto.” The Madrigals are an extraordinary family who live in the hidden mountain of Colombia in a charmed place called “Encanto.” The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift — every child except Mirabel. However, she soon may be the Madriglas last hope when she discovers the magic surrounding the Encanto is now in danger. The movie starts at 8:30pm and the screening is free. Reggaetronic Lake Murray Music Festival (concert)
The Reggaetronic Lake Murray Music Festival is one of the most unique events in South Carolina. This 100% floating festival off Spence Island is accessible by boat only and proceeds are to benefit the Shriners Children’s Hospital. It’s a celebration of music and togetherness igniting the soul of Columbia and Lake Murray. This unforgettable outdoor festival is the perfect tribute to giving back to the community while enjoying some great music and fun in the sun. Lexington Historical Food Tour
Join Two Gals and a Fork as they host the Lexington Historical Food Tour in downtown Lexington. Starting at 3 p.m., you can eat at five top local restaurants and learn a little local history in between. Struggle Jennings (concert)

Cash Money Experience (concert)
The Newberry Opera House (1201 McKibben St.) presents an entry in the First Friday Concert Series on June 3. Benny Starr (concert)
Join the Columbia Museum of Art (1515 Main St.) for More Than Rhythm: A Black Concert Series on June 3. For the third program of the series, the museum welcomes Lowcountry native and consciousness-raising hip-hop artist Benny Starr. After a sit down with host Birgitta Johnson, the recent U.S. Water Alliance artist-in-residence performs with full band The Four20s on Boyd Plaza to help celebrate Black Music Month. Bonnie Raitt (concert)
Grammy-winning multi-platinum superstar Bonnie Raitt brings her slide guitar prowess to the Township Auditorium (1703 Taylor St. in Columbia) on June 4 as part of her “Just Like That” tour. Outfest
South Carolina Pride celebrates Pride Month with its annual block party in the Vista in Columbia. The free festival on the 1200 block of Park Street features Willow Pill, the Season 14 winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” among other entertainers and musicians. “Great Moments in Italian Opera”
On June 5, the Koger Center (1051 Greene St. in Columbia) and The Palmetto Opera present “Great Moments In Italian Opera.” The concert features a local and international cast, and from Bel Canto to Verismo is an extravaganza of fun, best-loved Italian operas, laughter, and an elegant after-performance party to meet the cast. The program features soloists singing some of the most famous and well-known operatic arias, duets and quartets with orchestra from Puccini’s “La Bohéme,” Verdi’s “La Traviata,” Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” and more.
