Friday — April 28

On The Border (concert)

Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) hosts a performance by On the Border. The band is an Eagles tribute group, so you can expect to hear hits like “Hotel California,” “One Of These Nights,” “Take It To The Limit” and many more. Showtime is 6 p.m., and tickets are $20. Wine Tasting

Head over to the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (500 Wildlife Parkway in Columbia) for a wine tasting. Sip a variety of wines in one of the nation’s most beautiful and inspiring gardens. Admission is $75 for members and $85 for the general public. Event starts at 7 p.m. Visit riverbanks.org for more information. 

The World You Left Behind 

The Harbison Theatre (7300 College Street in Irmo) and WOW Productions present “The World You Left Behind.” The plot concerns top radio personality and single father Brian Green: “He has finally accepted that the life he had planned will never come to pass. But after years of praying, he gets a second chance at his dream … but does he still want it? Now Brian has to decide what’s best for his 16-year-old daughter Diamond all while knowing that one bad decision can cost him everything and everyone.” Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $30. Flatland Express (concert)

Bill’s Music Shop & Pickin’ Parlor (710 Meeting St. in West Columbia) hosts a performance by S.C. sextet Flatland Express. The band will perform classic and modern bluegrass, gospel and music from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Showtime is 8 p.m. and admission is a $10 donation. Visit billsmusicshop.com for more information.

Kids Day

Virginia Hylton Park (111 Maiden Lane) is the place to be for Lexington’s 22nd annual Kids Day. Bring the kids to the park and experience a day of learning, laughing, eating, entertainment, togetherness and fun. Proceeds from the event go to Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter and the Dickerson Center for Children. Admission is free. Kids Day runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit lexingtonkidsday.com for more information. 

Dougie Almeida (comedy)

Standup comedian Dougie Almeida, who has appeared at comedy festivals all over the country and on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” performs at Hollow Creek Distillery (112 Rocky Ridge Rd. in Leesville). Showtime is 8 p.m. and there will be a food truck on site from Maurice’s Piggie Park. Visit hollowcreekdistillery.com for more information.

Dee Lucas (concert)

Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St. in West Columbia) and saxophonist Dee Lucas present “No Boundaries! An Intimate Night of Jazz.” Lucas is a national recording star with many chart-topping hits, including “I Can't Stop Loving You,” “Bayou,” Love Saw It, "Human Nature," "Footsteps In The Dark," "Summertime," "Uh Oh Feeling" and more. Irmo International Festival

Head over to Irmo Community Park (7507 Eastview Dr.) for the annual Irmo International Festival: “Enjoy performances and entertainment by instrumental and vocal musicians, artists, and dancers.  Student artwork and poetry will be displayed.  International vendors, food trucks and booths, free art activities, and games will be available.” The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free to attend, including parking. Afton Wolfe (concert)

Nashville recording artist Afton Wolfe performs at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. in Cayce). Wolfe will play his unique mix of blues, country and rock starting at 1 p.m. and going until 4 p.m. The show is free to attend. Visit facebook.com/steelhandsbrewing for more information. 

Gilbert America Car Show

The Gilbert America Car Show is back for a second year, with the expected amazing vehicle as well as food trucks and drawings. The event at JCs Outdoors (126 Shore Rd. in Gilbert) goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find more info at facebook.com/jcsoutdoors.

Thursday — May 4

Chamber Crawl 5K

Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd. in Columbia) hosts the Chamber Crawl 5K. This 5K run/walk is perfect for the avid runner or the family looking for an afternoon stroll. After the run/walk, there will be live music, food and beverages, and the day concludes with a Chamber Crawl concert courtesy of musicians from the SC Philharmonic. The Chamber Crawl begins at 4 p.m. Race day registration is $30. You can also register early for $25. Visit strictlyrunning.com for more information. 

The Root Doctors (concert)

Funky party band The Root Doctors perform at the Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.). The show, part of the free Lexington Live series, starts at 6:30 p.m. and is free to attend. Visit icehouseamphitheater.com for more information. 

Spring Golf Tournament

Charwood Golf Club (222 Clubhouse Dr. in West Columbia) hosts its annual Spring golf tournament. Enjoy an afternoon of golf at one of the area’s most beautiful golf clubs. Tee time is at noon. Visit charwood.com for more information. 

Across the County Line

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (ballet)

The CMFA and Ann Brodie’s Carolina Ballet present a performance of the beautiful ballet version of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on April 28. Showtime is 10 a.m. at the Township Auditorium (1703 Taylor St in Columbia), and tickets cost $12 for students and military members, $17 for balcony seats and $22 for orchestra section seats. Straight Jokes! No Chaser (comedy)

Get ready for an evening of gut-busting standup comedy on April 28 as the Straight Jokes! No Chaser tour comes to Colonial Life Arena (801 Lincoln St. in Columbia). Enjoy standup sets by comedy stars Mike Epps, Cedric The Entertainer, D.L. Hughley, Earthquake & DC Young Fly. Showtime is 8pm and tickets cost between $72 and $132. Censor This (comedy)

Three thought-provoking comedians come to the Newberry Opera House (1201 McKibben St.) on April April 28 as part of the Censor This comedy tour. SC Cornbread Festival

After a three-year hiatus, the SC Cornbread Festival returns to 2847 N. Main St. in Columbia on April 30. Attendees can enjoy live music, cornhole and bingo games, the Cornbread Alley, the Cornbread Cook-Off, the Cornbread Eating Competition, the Corn Muffin Playland, the Little Miss Muffin Pageant, craft vendors, food trucks and exhibitors. Southern Sounds Music Festival

The Koger Center for the Arts (1051 Greene St. in Columbia) presents the Southern Sounds Music Festival on the Koger Center Plaza Stage April 30.
