Friday — July 21

South Congaree Championship Rodeo
Head over to the South Congaree Rodeo (395 Oak St.) for a fun night with the South Congaree Championship Rodeo. Come watch the bulls buck and the riders try to hang on for that precious eight seconds. The rodeo kicks off at 7:30 p.m., and tickets cost between $14 and $45. The rodeo continues Saturday. Purple Martin Tour
If you’re a nature lover, you’ll enjoy the Purple Martin Tour at Jake’s Landing (220 Jake’s Landing Rd.). This intimate, six-person cruise will allow you to see thousands of purple martins up close and enjoy an evening on Lake Murray. The cruise runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and tickets are $50 each. “Frozen II” (film)

Ben Chapman & Co. (concert)
Nashville Nights concert series at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. in Cayce) continues, bringing in another up-and-coming Nashville artist in Ben Chapman & Co., who are “inspired by the honky-tonk influence of Roger Miller and the genre-blending enterprises of The Grateful Dead.” Michael Haney hosts the free show, which starts at 6 p.m. For more info, go to facebook.com/steelhandsbrewing.

Civil Remedy (concert)

Sunset on the Shoals
Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd. in Columbia) invites you to “enjoy a interpretive paddle tour on the Saluda River followed by a wine tasting where you’ll sample eight different wines.” Event is dependent on river levels and weather. Saturday — July 22

Civil War Tour
If you’re a history buff, meet up at the Cayce Tennis Center (1120 Fort Congaree Tr.) for a Civil War Tour. This walking tour will take about 2 hours and run for around 2 miles. You’ll be able to walk the battlefield and visit the earthworks and learn about the strategies and tactics used by both sides as Sherman marched through South Carolina on his way to Columbia. Slip, Slide and Splash
Melvin Park (370 Eptings Camp Rd. in Chapin) is the place to cool off in the summer heat at the Slip, Slide and Splash event. Bring the kids and enjoy nine inflatable water slides, access to the splash pad and food trucks from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $15, and this event is for children ages 3 and up with adult supervision. Lexington Munching on Main Tour
Go on this tour and eat at five top restaurants in downtown Lexington (Private Property, Bodhi Thai Dining, Keg Cowboy or Havens Coffeehouse, Alodia’s Cucina Italiana, and O’Hara’s Public House are listed, but the stops may change without notice). But local food tour company Two Gals and a Fork has more on deck for this event, as the Lexington County Museum will offer historical perspective as you walk down Lexington’s Main Street. Irmo Community Park Food and Artisan Market

Lakeview (concert)
New Brookland Tavern (122 State St. in West Columbia) hosts a performance by Lakeview. Jesse Denaro and Luke Healy, the Nashville-by-way-of-Pittsburgh duo, will play their mix of country, rock and pop starting at 7 p.m., and admission is $15. Visit newbrooklandtavern.com for more information.

Colton Beasley Duo (concert)

Tuesday — July 25

Toucan Tuesday
Bring the kids to the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (500 Wildlife Parkway) for their Toucan Tuesday night. Guests visiting the zoo will receive buy-one get-one admission to the park and buy-one get-one Icees with a donation of two non-perishable food items. These items will go to the Harvest Hope Food Bank. The zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit riverbanks.org for more information.

Wednesday — July 26

Comedy Night
The Old Mill Brewpub (711 E. Main St.) hosts a hilarious night of standup comedy. There will be performances by 4 local and regional comedians: Host Topher Riddle, Trashy Amber, Paul Baeza and Greg Behrens. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and admission is $15. Wild Wednesdays
Sesquicentennial State Park (9564 Two Notch Rd. in Columbia) hosts the weekly Wild Wednesdays event on July 26. Children ages 6-12 can explore and discover many of the plants and animals that call the park home. Each week, the park will explore a different topic about the secrets of the forests and wetlands. “The Food We Celebrate” (exhibit)
Head to the Aiken County Historical Museum (433 Newberry St.) to check out the exhibit “The Food We Celebrate”: “Developed by the South Carolina State Museum and South Carolina Humanities, this new traveling exhibition celebrates iconic foods from communities around South Carolina.” The exhibit highlights “20 different iconic foodways such as BBQ, Chicken Bog, peaches and more.” The exhibit runs through Aug. 27.
