FRIDAY, JUNE 27

Corks & Kayaks  
Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd.) invites you to their Corks & Kayaks event.  Enjoy a guided paddle along the scenic Saluda River, led by a ranger sharing insights about the area’s natural beauty. After the paddle, unwind with a wine tasting featuring a selection of fine wines. As a special keepsake, participants receive a complimentary wine glass. This evening is designed for all skill levels and offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Corks & Kayaks runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and admission costs between $47 and $94. WSO Theatre & Film Festival  
Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College Blvd.) hosts the WSO Theatre & Film Festival.  This three-day event celebrates culturally driven content and provides a platform for new-generation theatre producers and filmmakers to showcase their work. The festival includes screenings of independent films, live theatre performances, panel discussions, workshops and an awards ceremony to recognize outstanding talent in the industry. Paul McDonald (concert)
Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St.) continues their “Nashville Nights” summer concert series with a performance by rising country singer/songwriter Paul McDonald, with an opening set from Leah Blevins. LeTron Brantley (concert)

12,000 Year History Park (1120 Ft. Congaree Tr.) invites you to their Civil War walking tour. Learn about The Battle of Congaree Creek, the last fortified position defended by Confederate troops before the capture and destruction of Columbia. Walk the battlefield with a trained guide, visit the earthworks and learn about the strategies and tactics used by both sides as Sherman marched through South Carolina on his way to Columbia. Purple Martin Tour

The Spirit of Lake Murray (docked at 216 Shadowood Dr.) takes you around the lake on a Purple Martin tour. Set sail on an unforgettable evening aboard the Spirit of Lake Murray and witness the gathering of thousands of Purple Martins at sunset. This exclusive boat tour offers a front-row seat to one of nature’s most mesmerizing spectacles. The tour runs from 7 to 9 p.m. and food and drinks are available. Tickets are $59. Toucan Tuesday
The Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (500 Wildlife Pkwy.) hosts their popular weekly Toucan Tuesday event. Riverbanks teams with Harvest Hope Food Bank once again, and every Tuesday this summer, guests who donate two non-perishable food items will receive buy-one-get-one-free general admission and buy-one-get-one regular-sized ICEEs. Modern Shag Night

Fast-rising country star Emily Ann Roberts performs at the Newberry Opera House (1201 McKibben St.) on Friday, June 27. Roberts competed on Blake Shelton’s team on NBC’s “The Voice,”  performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage over 20 times, racked up more than 45 million streams and built a reputation as a dedicated songwriter and performer. Art Bar (1211 Parks St.) hosts an event on Saturday, June 28. The Bands Not Bans Summer Showcase, presented by the Palmetto State Abortion Fund, is a night of live music courtesy of Bones Hamilton & The Union, Steam Killed Lula and Sweetheart City, along with drinks, and “community-powered support for reproductive care,” according to the event listing. Bands Not Bans runs from 8 to 11 p.m. and tickets are $12. “All proceeds help fund abortion access and reproductive health care in South Carolina.”

The Township Auditorium (1703 Taylor St.) hosts the finals of the Miss South Carolina pageant on Saturday, June 28. After four days of grueling competition from the preliminary rounds through the talent competition, South Carolina’s best have competed at their best and now a queen will be crowned. Bring the family to Ridge Spring Town Plaza on W. Main St. on Sunday, June 29, for the Ridge Spring Farmer’s Market. Local farmers gather to offer fresh produce, along with plants perfect for home gardens and landscaping.
