Larry Cordle & Clay Hess (concert)

A Day in May Breakfast
Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd. in Columbia) hosts the annual Day In May breakfast. The Day in May annual breakfast helps fund the no-cost recovery services for individuals and families provided by The Courage Center. Dion Elmore (concert)
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dion Elmore performs at New Brookland Tavern (122 State St. in West Columbia). Elmore’s music mixes elements of hip-hop, R&B and ambient electronica. Lake Murray Monster Cat

LLC 23 Cornhole Tournament
Leadership Lexington County’s class of 2023 is throwing a party at Irmo Community Park (7507 Eastview Dr.) to raise money for The Samaritan’s Well, which “empowers homeless women and children by providing them with shelter and life skills.” In addition to the cornhole competition, there will be food, drinks and a performance from local musician BC Villanova and His Amazing Friends. Riverbanks Run
Head over to Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (500 Wildlife Pkw.) for the annual Riverbanks Run event. This 5K race that benefits wildlife conservation will wind through the park’s back roads, cross the Saluda River, and pass some of the most popular exhibits in the zoo. SC Poultry Festival
The annual South Carolina Poultry Festival brings rides and games ($30 all-you-can-ride deal available May 11-12) and concludes May 13 with a variety of entertainment (including popular local bands Tokyo Joe and The Root Doctors), a parade, a 5K and a volleyball tournament. 5K is at 8 a.m., parade rolls at 10:15 a.m., and the festival goes from 5 to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.

S.C. Philharmonic (concert)
The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St. in Irmo) and the S.C. Philharmonic present “Best Of Hollywood,” a program that celebrates the best and most popular soundtracks to beloved films. Expect to hear songs from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Jurassic Park,” “Titanic,” “The Wizard of Oz” and more. Showtime is 3:30 p.m., and tickets are $40. Lexington Wine Walk
The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) and the Lexington Beautification Foundation hosts the 12th annual Lexington Wine Walk. There will be unlimited wine tastings and food for purchase. Attendees will receive a souvenir wine glass and enjoy music from Going Commando. The Wine Walk begins at 6 p.m. and is for adults 21 and over only (ID required). Admission costs between $30 and $45. Blues Deluxe (concert)

Columbia Kings n’ Things presents a drag brunch celebrating the “women that raised us” at the Hideout in WeCo (118 State St. in West Columbia): “No, not our real moms — the ones we watched on TV. Mighty Kicks (concert)
The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) hosts a performance by The Mighty Kicks. The variety band plays an array of beach music, Motown and soul classics. “Blithe Spirit” (play)
The Newberry Community Players take to the city’s Ritz Theatre (1511 Main St.) to present acclaimed playwright Noel Coward’s “Blithe Spirit” May 12-21. The play concerns the socialite and novelist Charles Condomine, who invites the eccentric medium and clairvoyant, Madame Arcati, to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. Taste of Black Columbia
The State Museum (301 Gervais St.) hosts the annual Taste of Black Columbia festival on May 12. The event presents a diverse sampling of food and beverage by a variety of restaurants and vendors in the community. The festival begins at 7:30 and runs until 10 p.m. Tickets are $100 for general admission and $275 for “Friend of the Taste,” which includes stage seating, all food samples provided by local chefs and caterers, an open bar with spirits provided by Jack Daniels and live entertainment.
