Stutman Hollow Haunted Attraction
Among the many local places to look for scares in October is the Stutman Hollow Haunted Trail (213 Stutman Rd. in Leesville). “Nestled in the dark woods of Stutman Hollow is a fear of the unknown. A family moved out to Stutman Road where their son had always wanted to do a haunted trail. Deceased Farm
If you’re ready for Halloween thrills, then head to Clinton Sease Farm (382 Olde Farm Rd.) for the Deceased Farm haunted attraction. Take a self-guided spooky tour of 6 terrifying buildings, three outdoor zones and creepy corn fields. This event is for adults and for children over 12. Hall of Horrors
In the mood for a bit of pre-Halloween fright? Head over to 1153 Walter Price Rd. in Cayce for the Hall of Horrors. Have some fun chills and scares from some of the best fright-night performers around, and contribute to a good cause as all proceeds from the Hall of Horrors go to local charities, notably the SC Jaycee Camp Hope, a camp experience designed for children and adults with learning disabilities and special needs. Lower Saluda Craft Beer & Winefest
If you’re a beer or wine fan, or if you just want to have a good time at a fun festival, then head to Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd. in Columbia) for the Lower Saluda Craft Beer & Winefest. Taste more than 25 craft beers from a variety of breweries, enjoy live music from the Flat Out Strangers, and take home a commemorative tasting glass. Food trucks will be on site. “Confessions Of A Good Man 2: The Truth About Lying” (play)
WOW Productions and the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St. in Irmo) present “Confessions Of A Good Man 2: The Truth About Lying”: “The Roberts men are back with more secrets, more lies, and more jaw dropping drama, as they fight through depression, blackmail, sickness, and greed. After 10 years and facing their deepest fears. Steelin’ Peaches (concert)
The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) hosts a performance by Steelin’ Peaches: An Allman Brothers Revue. For this show, Steelin’ Peaches takes a look back at The Allman Brothers Band’s legendary early 1970s performance at the “Summer Jam” at Watkins Glen with the Grateful Dead. One Irish Rover (concert)
The Greater Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce kicks off this year’s three-week October run of its fall and spring concert series Rhythm on the River at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater (121 Alexander Rd. in West Columbia), highlighting various community performers in addition to each week’s musical headliner. The first concert features Van Morrison tribute One Irish Rover along with intermission performances from the Airport High Marching Band and the Capital City Cloggers. Corn Maze
Bring the kids to Clinton Sease Farm (382 Ole Farm Rd.) for some corn maze fun. Your $15 admission price includes all mazes, unlimited hayrides, an obstacle course, all playground activities and a visit to the pumpkin patch. Flora & Fauna Marketplace (4773 Sunset Blvd.) hosts its second annual Harvest Day Crafters Market. The Pumpkin Patch Farm Festival
Sylvan Farm (182 Ridge Spring Hwy. in Saluda) hosts The Pumpkin Patch Farm Festival on Oct. 13. The festival features rides, games, food and drink and, most importantly, lots of pumpkins. Horse/wagon rides are $15 (includes pumpkin) and tractor/haywagon rides are $12 (includes pumpkin). Children under 2 are free (does not include pumpkin).
