Two new restaurants are coming soon to downtown Lexington. Ember, a steakhouse, is opening this May in the former Alodia’s location at 101 West Main St., while Voodoo Brewing Company is looking to open later this year. The brewing company will be across the street at 102 West Main St., next to TakoSushi, which opened last year.
Both restaurants take up vacated spaces in the downtown area, adding variety to the Lexington foodie scene. After Alodia’s closed about a year ago due to claims of employees not receiving proper payment, Ember’s owners decided to bring a steakhouse to the corner suite.
Ember is owned by Steve Cook, Joe Walker and Ryan Jones. Cook owns several restaurants, including Saluda’s, Walker owns Molto Vino and Jones was the previous manager of Halls Chophouse. The name Ember derives from its signature wood ember grill, which will infuse steaks and seafood with a deep, rich flavor. Customers can expect to find hand-cut steaks, sustainably sourced seafood, homemade pastas, seasonal dishes, a curated wine list and cocktails, according to its website.
The announcement was made last year and the restaurant is wrapping up a transformative renovation, according to its website. Restaurant-goers can expect an “elegant and thriving” space as doors open soon.
Across the street in the forthcoming brewery space is Voodoo Brewing Company, which has 19 franchise locations in other states, including a couple already in other parts of South Carolina. The Pennsylvania-based brewery will be in the space originally planned as a beer garden but later scrapped by management.
Plans have not been set for an exact date yet, but customers can expect a summer opening, according to its Facebook page.
The brewing company was founded in 2005, with the first taproom opening in 2012.
