Superintendent of Lexington County School District One,  Gerrita Postlewait, received an “extremely effective evaluation” from board members on Oct. 8.

The board conducted the evaluation during the open session, and then met in an executive session with the legal counsel.

According to the press release, all board members stated that Postlewait showed incredible working knowledge of education and challenged her to continue to move Lexington One forward.

Postlewait has reduced the noise and has kept the district focused on improving education for every student in District One, according to Brent Powers.  

The board voted to adjust Postlewait’s contract to provide a 3% salary increase and increase her annuity contribution by 2%.

An additional vote was accepted for Postelwait’s resignation that will be effective on June 30, 2025. Keith Price will then take over as superintendent.

“I was really blessed by the board with a five-year contract, next year will be the third year of the five-year contract,” Postlewait said earlier this year. “Looking ahead for succession planning, I think it's in the district's best interest to advertise rather than a deputy position, the superintendent-elect position which would make it clear that the person coming in as superintendent-elect would eventually serve as superintendent when I step down.”

And at the April 16 meeting, according to earlier reporting from the Chronicle, the board approved the motion to execute an employment contract with Price for superintendent-elect effective July 1, 2024. It’s a one-year term as superintendent-elect at an annual salary of $210,000. The board also authorized an employment contract with Price as superintendent of Lexington One effective July 1, 2025, and it provides for a four-year term as superintendent at an annual salary of $236,000.
