The fall sports season has begun, and that means marching bands and football! The band members and football players have been practicing and honing their skills all summer break.

Support our hardworking students by going to the Friday night games and band competitions to let them know their efforts are appreciated!

The Irmo-Chapin Recreation Commission’s Inclusive Playground is now open for all to enjoy. The two-acre playground is designed to meet accessibility requirements, has a treehouse, a slide, balance beams, crawling tunnels, swings, and a platform swing capable of holding a person in a wheelchair. The playground will open to the public August 24, at 11 am. For more information on the park, call 803-772-1228.

Ever wonder what would happen if a deceased family member showed up at family dinner? The Chapin Theatre Company’s hilarious comedy, “A Nice Family Gathering,” opens September 27. This story is about a deceased man who loved his wife but never told her. He comes back as a ghost to a family dinner to tell his wife of his love, which is something he failed to do during their 41-year marriage. He is invisible and his widow has brought a date! Performances are on Sept. 27 and 28, and Oct. 3, 4, and 5 at 8 pm at the Firehouse Theatre at American Legion Post 193, 102 Lexington Avenue. Visit Chapintheatre.org for info.
