Students at Swansea High School participated in College Week October 21-25, 2019. Seniors completed applications for Midlands Technical College (MTC). Approximately 100 Seniors completed applications to 4 year colleges.

The week kicked off Monday with “College Hat” day. Seniors were given presentations about MTC in their English classes and were assisted in filling out their applications. During Tuesday lunches, college Kahoot was played for anyone interested in joining. Kahoot is an online interactive game of questions. Awards were given to the top 3 scorers at both lunches. Damyen Davis and Michael Kubischke won first place. Wednesday was “Dress for Success” day. All students were asked to dress in interview attire for their career of interest. Thursday consisted of a “Family Feud” game on the stage at each lunch. 4 Seniors were chosen and they picked 4 classmates to be on their team. Kaley Shumpert, McKenzie Speights, Lauryn Robinson, Peyton Kirby, Bailey Speares, Jersey Richardson, and Ana Cruz were some of the feud winners.

Friday during senior level science classes, college admissions representatives from MTC and The College of Charleston were available to help students fill out applications. Door prizes were given to students completing applications.

While having fun throughout the week, students were given many opportunities to gain information about ways to pay for and apply to their college of choice.
